 How do football fixtures work? 

 

It depends on the competition. The Premier League and EFL fixtures are computer generated at the start of the season. The FA Cup, Champions League, Europa League and World Cup fixtures are all decided by a draw featuring different levels of seeded teams.  

  

Whichever way the fixtures are selected, you’ll always have a home team and an away team. And knowing the make-up of these fixtures will inform your betting too. You can bet on a home win or an away win for example. Depending on the teams and the form, you’ll likely get better odds on the home side winning, but not always – especially not when one of the big boys comes to town.
